Nasonex (mometasone furoate) is a nasal spray which helps reduce symptoms of allergic rhinitis, which is inflammation of the nasal airways caused by exposure to allergens such as pollen or animal dander.

• Patients under 12 should administer 1 spray in each nostril, for a total of 2 sprays or 100 mcg, once per day.

To treat existing allergy symptoms:

• Patients 12 years of age and up should administer 2 sprays in each nostril, for a total of 4 sprays or 200 mcg, once per day.
• Patients under 12 should administer 1 spray in each nostril, for a total of 2 sprays or 100 mcg, once per day.

For nasal polyps:

• Adults should administer 2 sprays in each nostril twice per day, for a total of 8 sprays or 400 mcg.
• Spread the two daily doses as evenly apart as possible, and repeat at the same times each day if possible.
• Nasal polyps are rare in children; speak with a doctor for ideal dosage.

Allergy symptoms are often noticeably reduced within 1 or 2 days of use. Maximum benefits are felt within 2 weeks; if the product is not effective after 2 weeks of use, it is advisable to consider other options rather than continuing to buy Nasonex.

Noticeable effects may take several weeks when used to treat nasal polyps. In many cases nasal polyps will disappear entirely after several months of treatment.
